Celebrity and athlete yoga instructor, Gwen Lawrence told Women’s Health 4 yoga moves to help reduce stress.  Gwen’s client’s include, New York Giants, New York Yankees, New York Knicks, New York Rangers, University of North Carolina Tarheels baseball.  Former Giant David Tyree even attributes his miraculous catch in the Super Bowl that helped propel the New York Giants over the then undefeated New England Patriots to his yoga training under Gwen’s instruction.

Instructions:

Do it three days a week. Start with two to three reps of each move and work up to 21.

Lie on your back with your arms at your sides, palms facing up (a). Inhale and lift your legs off the floor as high as you can; at the same time, bring your chin as close to your chest as possible (b). Keep your legs straight and your feet flexed. Exhale as you return to start.

Move 2 – Camel Lean

Kneel on the floor with your legs together and your arms at your sides, palms facing in. Drop your chin to your chest and inhale (a). Lift your chin and lean back deeply. Move your hands to your lower back for support. Let your head and neck drop back (b). Exhale and return to start.

Move 3 – Inverted Table Raise

Sit on the floor with your legs extended hip-width apart, knees bent, feet flat on the floor and your hands on the floor behind you, fingers pointing toward your butt. Inhale (a). Raise your butt off the floor and slide your feet under your knees. Raise your hips until your torso and thighs are parallel to the floor (b). Exhale and return to start.

Move 4 – Up Dog & Down Dog

Start in plank position, hands under your shoulders and feet hip-width apart, with your body in a straight line from head to heels. Drop your hips and lift your chest up and forward, keeping your wrists under your shoulders to protect your lower back (a). Exhale and push your hips toward the ceiling. Tuck your chin to your chest (b). Inhale and return to plank.
