Sex and the City: Kristin Davis Workout and Diet

Kristin Davis is best known for her role as the eternally optimistic romantic, Charlotte York, on Sex and the City. However, in her latest film, Couples Retreat, also starring Kristen Bell, Kristen’s challenge is not to find love but instead to work through relationship troubles. She somehow manages to look better than she did in Sex and the City – perhaps in part to her workout and diet routine.

Kristin Davis acknowledges that Hollywood often seems obsessed with weight, but she doesn’t succumb to the pressure. She focuses on being healthy and having energy, instead of being skinny. She says there was a point when she realized, “You know what? I’m just not going to be the thinnest actress out there. There’s always going to be a thinner girl. I don’t think you get parts based on being the thinnest girl. I don’t think you fall in love based on being the thinnest girl. It sounds simplistic, but I think we forget that.”

With regards to diet, Kristin Davis believes it is important to have a positive body image and a balanced attitude towards food. She says, “I went through periods when I said I can’t have this or I can’t have that.” But now, she says “I don’t deprive myself.” Kristin recommends eating what you want, but in moderation. “My main issue is to never let myself get too hungry. I make sure I eat every three hours or so, mostly proteins, good carbs, and veggies and salads.” When Kristin craves sweets, she doesn’t deny herself. She found that by giving herself permission to indulge, she actually reduced her cravings.

With a diet and workout lifestyle like this, we can’t wait to see what she’ll look like in Sex and the City 2.

As far as exercise is concerned, Kristin Davis enjoys variety. She grew tired of the gym several years ago, saying “I was completely bored by the repetition.” Now she keeps her workout fresh by incorporating Pilates, yoga, and hiking. Kristin does Pilates three times a week at the Mari Windsor Studio on Los Angeles. She has also been an avid yogi for almost 20 years. In fact, when she first moved to Los Angeles she studied yoga and taught at her own studio. Finally, Kristin enjoys hiking in the Hollywood Hills with her dogs. Overall, Kristin Davis says “My philosophy is to do something wherever I am. As I get older, I realize how important it is to work out – for my bones, my posture, my ligaments, everything!”
