Lo Bosworth Celebrity Diet: The Skinnygirl Dish

Every Friday this month we will feature one of the five latest and greatest celebrity diets for spring. Celebrities use these diets to cleanse toxins, lose weight, and maintain their Hollywood bodies. Check in every week to learn more celebrity weight loss secrets and tips!

This Week: Skinny Girl

This week’s celebrity diet comes from the new book by Real Housewife of New York City Bethenny Frankel, The Skinnygirl Dish. We previously covered Bethenny’s first book, “Naturally Thin: Unleash Your Skinny Girl and Free Yourself From a Lifetime of Dieting,” and provided you with Bethenny’s delicious recipe for Spinach Ricotta Pasta. Celebrity fans of Bethenny’s Skinny Girl recipe book include Lo Bosworth (The Hills) and Stephanie March (Law & Order).

Skinny Girl Dish is a cookbook full of healthy recipes created by Bethenny. The Skinny Girl recipes accompany Bethenny’s approach to treating eating like financial planning. For example, if you splurge at one meal, save at another and try to downsize your portions (for more tips, check out our previous post). Some benefits include the delicious, yet healthy, recipes and the fact that alcohol is allowed in moderation. Indeed, the Skinny Girl approach is more of a lifestyle, than a diet.

Some potential pitfalls of the Skinny Girl diet include actually having to cook. Also, weight loss is not guaranteed. However, the cooking part can actually be considered a benefit, because interacting with and understanding what you put into your body is an important part of healthy eating. In addition, although weight loss is not guaranteed, Bethenny intends her Skinny Girl books to guide readers to a new healthy lifestyle, and to allow them to avoid lifelong dieting.

Check out this sample menu from Skinny Girl Dish:

Breakfast: Whole-grain blueberry pancakes

Lunch: Asian shrimp salad with spinach, pea pods, water chestnuts, carrots, and almonds

Snacks: Sweet and salty popcorn

Dinner: Tacos made with whole-wheat tortillas, ground turkey, reduced-fat cheese and “sour cream” (Greek yogurt with lemon juice)

Dessert: Ricotta cheesecake

Come back next week to learn about another one of our favorite celebrity diets for spring!
