HalleBerry1 Build a Back Like Halle Berry exercises Halle Berry, the X-Men and Catwoman star actress, has worked hard on her fitness for her superhero roles.  Here’s one exercise you can do to build your back and shoulders like Halle.

The Move: Dumbbell Back Rows on Stability Ball

Why it’s great: “This exercise strengthens the rhomboids, the muscles in your upper back that connect your shoulder blades to your spine, giving you a toned back and much better posture,” says Berry’s trainer Harley Pasternack. “You’ll look great in backless dresses, too!”

How to: Sit on a stability ball, holding a 5- to 8-pound dumbbell in each hand. Bend at the waist until torso is parallel to the floor, chest is on knees, and arms are hanging toward the floor. Draw elbows back and up, bringing shoulder blades toward each other, then lower dumbbells back down; that’s 1 rep. Do 3 sets of 20 reps.  DBBackRows4 Build a Back Like Halle Berry exercises

Alternate variation: The move can be done without a stability ball by bending at your hips and knees and lowering your torso to be almost parallel to floor (like in the stability ball version), allowing the arms to hang toward the floor. At this point, you should have a natural curvature in your back and palms facing behind you. Begin the move by bending your elbows and pulling the dumbbells toward your sides so that the sides of the dumbbells touch your sides. Pause at the top before bringing it back. Repeat. Remember: try to keep your torso still throughout the move.
