the rock 20070517 257091 Can You Smell What the Rock is Cooking in the Gym? workout routines celebrity workouts Dwayne Johnson, also known as “The Rock,” started his career playing football before becoming an instant star in the WWE.  This is all in The Rock’s past of course, as he now spends his most of time preparing and filming movies, including his latest film: The Tooth Fairy.

When The Rock transitioned between careers, he had to make changes to his physique. He used to lift one body part per workout, but he found that he was not burning off fat fast enough. In came his trainer, Billy Beck, who then had The Rock lifting four body parts a day (each of which were done 3x per week) and less cardio.

Here’s the new workout program, as shown in Men’s Health, Billy came up with for the Rock:

Monday

Resistance training: Chest, back, biceps, calves; 5 sets, 15-20 reps, 30-second rest periods.

Cardio: 5-minute warmup, 12 minutes at a high-intensity clip, 5-minute cooldown.

Tuesday

Resistance training: Quads, hamstrings, shoulders, triceps; 5 sets, 15-20 reps, 30-second rest periods.

Cardio: 5-minute warmup, 12 minutes at a high-intensity clip, 5-minute cooldown.

Wednesday

Resistance training: Chest, back, biceps, calves; 5 sets, 12-15 reps, 45-second rest periods.

Cardio: 5-minute warmup, 12 minutes at a high-intensity clip, 5-minute cooldown.

Thursday

Resistance training: Quads, hamstrings, shoulders, triceps; 5 sets, 12-15 reps, 45-second rest periods.

Cardio: 5-minute warmup, 12 minutes at a high-intensity clip, 5-minute cooldown.

Friday

Resistance training: Chest, back, biceps, calves; 5 sets, 8-12 reps, 60-second rest periods.

Cardio: 5-minute warmup, 12 minutes at a high-intensity clip, 5-minute cooldown.

Saturday

Resistance training: Quads, hamstrings, shoulders, triceps; 5 sets, 8-12 reps, 60-second rest periods.

Cardio: 5-minute warmup, 12 minutes at a high-intensity clip, 5-minute cooldown.

Sunday

One the 7th Day, The Rock rests.
