Kelly Osbourne Danced Off 42 Lbs.

Kelly Osbourne Weight Loss by Dancing

This week Kelly Osbourne graces the cover of Us Weekly. In her interview with Us, Kelly describes how she danced off 42 lbs. on the hit show Dancing With the Stars and how she plans to keep it off.

Last year, Kelly won third place on Dancing With the Stars, and fans watched as the socialite shrunk from 160 lbs. down to 118 lbs. Now that Kelly is no longer dancing six hours a day to prepare for competition, she maintains her weight loss on her own. However, Kelly is not ready to give up dancing as a workout. She says, “After Dancing With the Stars ended, I started with the Bar Method, and now I do that three times a week at least. Not every day. I don’t have that kind of dedication!” The Bar Method combines Pilates and ballet to create a 60-minute, overall body toning workout, and when Kelly can’t make it to class she hikes near her parents’ home in Hidden Hills, California.

In addition to working out, Kelly realizes that eating healthy is crucial to maintaining weight loss. The starlet doesn’t count calories or follow a strict diet, but instead focuses on eating healthy, unprocessed foods. Kelly says, “Just make sure what you are eating is good food. You can eat as much good food as you want if you’re careful.” She also says, “I try to have no carbohydrates unless they’re natural, such as apples. No bread, no pasta. Taking away bread, pasta and real sugar . . . what that does to you is incredible.”

In addition to healthy eating, Kelly focuses on portion control. She says, “I just eat when I’m hungry. Portion control is a big issue. If it’s on your plate people think you have to eat it. But if you’re full then stop eating. Just because it’s there, you don’t have to eat it. That was a problem for me before. Food was there, and I just ate it because it was there. I wasn’t even that hungry.”

Most importantly, Kelly says that maintaining weight loss is about committing to change your life. The key is to tell yourself, “I’m not going to eat that anymore. I am going to change my bad habits.” Otherwise, Kelly says “you’ll spend the rest of your life yo-yoing and you’ll be miserable. By no means is it easy. Getting in shape is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.”
