Alexis Bellino of the Real Housewives of Orange Country and her Workotu Routine

Sadly, this Thursday marks the season finale of one of America’s favorite guilty pleasures – Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Orange County. If you have seen the show (and let’s be honest most of us have), you know that the Orange County housewives place high priority on physical fitness. In fact, Vicki Gunvalson, the self-proclaimed only housewife with a “real job” often criticizes her so-called friends for their two-hour mid-day gym stints. Whether you find the celebrities incredibly inspiring, a bit amusing, or downright disgraceful, everyone can agree their bodies look good.

This season, housewife Alexis Bellino joined the cast. Arguably, Alexis has the best body of all the housewives, and she is not shy about showing it. Throughout the season Alexis was criticized for revealing too much skin while at the same time touting her old-fashioned Christian values. Whether or not Alexis is a hypocrite is a judgment call, but the status of her body – among the other housewives or otherwise – is not in dispute.

In her own Bravo TV blog, Alexis discusses her workout routine. Alexis says she changes her workouts often, because “I get bored so easily and I am constantly looking for new ways to workout and still have fun!” According to Alexis, “Currently I do Pure Barre one/two days a week, run 5 miles three/four days a week, YAS (yoga and spin) one day a week, and lift weights one day.” Alexis also takes advantage of the constant influx of new workout trends in southern California. She says, “anytime new workouts come out, I am the FIRST to try it.” Variety is a great way to nix boredom and avoid a workout plateau, and Alexis is certainly a great example of this.

In her blog, Alexis also discusses her motivation to stay in shape. In response to criticism about her controlling husband, Alexis defends herself saying, “I don’t feel it is a woman’s responsibility to stay in shape or look their best, it’s simply a personal choice. I just feel it’s important to do for yourself.” Alexis also works out for the mental benefits. She says, “Not only does your heart love you for it, but I just LOVE the way I feel after. I think one of the main reasons I do it is because it is a stress reliever. Some people paint, or ride horses, or read, but I am such a high energy person that I need it to release anxiety. It helps me be a better mom, and a better wife.”

Although we will miss Vicki Gunvalson, Alexis Bellino, and the rest of the housewives of Orange Country, we can relax and rejoice in the fact that a new season of another favorite guilty pleasure, The Real Housewives of New York City, premieres just as Orange County ends. We’re sure those housewives will feature fantastic bodies that parallel those of their West Coast kin.
